Our goal is to spend quality time together as a family, challenging ourselves and learning new things; stepping out of our comfort zones. We began our adventure on May 1st, 2005, when we rented out our home in small town Lacombe, Alberta, left all of our belongings in storage and moved to the big city of Toronto to learn how to sail. We rented an apartment near the heart of the city and the first time we all stepped on a sail boat was at the Toronto Boat show in January of 2006. We purchased a 43 foot Ketch Chassiron Tour De Monde in Antigua and sailed "Artemo" to Grenada in May and June of 2008. We put extensive work into restoring our beautiful boat to its original glory! We lived in Grenada for a few months while we did this. We then sailed back up the caribbean chain of islands to St Lucia to test out the new rig. From St Lucia we sailed back to Grenada and on to Cartagena, Columbia. We are currently in Panama and getting ready to sail across the Pacific in April 2010! We believe that dreams are never unattainable or too big. Our approach has always been to break it down, make a list, put up pictures of what you want, tell everyone you know, be excited, embrace help, stay the course, fantasize often about the dream, and the one piece we are always working on…. enjoy today while working for tomorrow. |
